The GobblerNY Staff Talks About Their Evening Routines

GOBBLERNY HQ  – People are always asking what it’s like to work for Manhattan’s preeminent loosely Manhattan-based food blog. Now it’s time to find out, thanks to our HR department’s new survey on work-life balance. HR made it clear that these survey responses were supposed to remain confidential, but – as we like to say here at GobblerNY – we don’t know the meaning of the word confidential.

Take a peek inside the outside lives of our incredible GobblerNY staffers in the survey responses below:

“Every night, I sip a whiskey – neat and cry into a Bon Appétit. Then I make a genoise sponge – but I usually throw it out.”

“My evening routine? Nothing too special… ha– umm, I don’t know. Come to think of it I never actually leave the office.”

“I get home pretty late from work so I usually just brush my teeth and get into bed. It’s kind of a tough routine and I can’t have much of a social life, but I’m focusing on my career right now. Plus my husband says he loves taking care of our nine kids.”

“Gotta get home to watch Cupcake Wars! Not because I like the show, but because I’m assigned to write about it. We don’t even publish anything about Cupcake Wars!”

“When I get home, I do a sweep of the premises to check my apartment for hidden cameras. Best to be afraid, you know? I’m just happy you guys are doing this survey so you can understand what is actually going on at this company. It’s pretty intense.”

“I tune into the livestreams of all my employees’ apartments. Those plant-cameras were the best investment I’ve ever made! Gotta make sure someone on staff is watching Cupcake Wars.”

“My evening routine is the same as my morning routine – I watch Cupcake Wars. I was actually meaning to talk to you guys in HR about this. I was hired as a “Copyeditor and Proofreader” but my boss just makes me watch Cupcake Wars. The show isn’t even on anymore so I’m just streaming whatever clips I can find on dailymotion.com. I mean, I love seeing the #cupcakecenterpieces come together in the final round, but I’d much rather be focusing on my passion: proofreading.”

“I’m an intern so I like to say yes to everything. It’s just like my supervisor says: ‘We need these Dailymotion clips to have a million views by the end of the quarter or we’re filing a #metoo complaint against you.’ Haha! Yes, sir! I’m just thrilled to have my foot in the door in the media industry.”

“OK so my take is this – before founding GobblerNY, the guys at the top invested heavily in Cupcake Wars and are trying to give it a second wind online after the Food Network pulled the plug. This whole food blogging thing is a big front. Again, that’s just my take. Oh, and at night I like to light a scented candle and watch my neighbors fight.”
