Five Delicatessens Where You Can Duly Acknowledge That Johnny Carson Is, Was, And Will Forever Be The King Of Late Night

1. Sarge’s Delicatessen

This place is great, and open 24 hours, which means you never have to stop talking about Johnny Carson.

2. Katz’s Delicatessen

One of New York’s most legendary spots. Katz’s has been slinging world-class pastrami since 1888, the same year Johnny Carson ascended to the throne of Late Night television.

3. Ellen’s Stardust Diner

Leno interviewed stars, but Carson made them. Everyone performing at this place wants to be a star, but they never will be since Johnny Carson is no longer around to wave them over to the desk. Oh well! Whenever I watch anything, it just makes me sad since – no matter what it is – Johnny Carson did it better.

4. 2nd Avenue Deli

A classic New York eatery. I like to eat here with my two sons, Johnny and Carson. I tell them about the time I saw someone who could have passed for Doc Severenson back in the day. They nod and we eat in silence out of respect for the king of late night, Johnny Carson.
